Father's Day & 2 Week Update

Obviously I'm a little late posting about Father's Day - but I've been a little preoccupied! :) So, Kyle celebrated his very first Father's Day this past Sunday. I think he had a good day (at least he says so) despite the fact that neither of us thought that he'd be an "official" daddy this year! We spent the day visiting both sets of grandparent's which was good for several reasons: 1) I got to get out of the house, 2) grandparent's had their first visit from Ryleigh, 3) I got to lay out by a pool (I couldn't actually swim yet)! and 4) we got 2 more free meals! LOL We've been so blessed with family and friends that I haven't actually had to fix anything more difficult than a sandwich for lunch since we got home from the hospital! Not sure what I'm going to do next week about meals! We may just be eating cereal and sandwiches for awhile! :) Seriously though, it was a good day. I did feel bad for both Kyle and my own Dad since I was unable to drive for 2 weeks and I don't want to take Ryleigh out in public yet, neither of them got a card or a gift! I'm pretty sure they both understood and weren't nearly as upset about it as I was! I have to say Kyle has only been a dad for a couple of weeks, but he's doing an amazing job. Ryleigh and I completely lucked out with him (not really - we're just blessed!) because he is one of those dads that doesn't mind doing whatever is necessary at this stage. He changes diapers, cleans the house, runs errands, or just whatever else needs to be done. He adores his little girl and if you were to show up at this house while they are both here - more than likely you'll find Kyle holding Ryleigh sitting on the couch! It's too cute! He's doing a great job so far and I know he's is going to be an amazing father - can't wait to experience them together as Ryleigh grows up! Here is a picture that we got of all three of us (you'll have to excuse how Kyle and I look - this was after the pool!)

On Tuesday, Ryleigh was 2 weeks old and had her 2 week check up with the doctor. She weighed in at 5lbs, 7oz! We were hoping that she would reach her birth weight since she had lost some weight prior to leaving the hospital. Well, she certainly did reach her birth weight - and more! She gained 9 oz in 7 days! That kid was busy! No wonder I've been so tired! :) I did forget to ask about her length - I was more concerned with her weight - so I don't know her current length. Overall the doctor said she looks great, she is having no issues and the weight gain was a big indicator that she is definitely doing well. I'm doing well also, I feel fine and have pretty much completely healed from the surgery. I was cleared to drive this week, which is good, because I'm quickly coming to realize that I may need a change of scenery here soon! I love being home with Ryleigh and for the most part, we haven't had any issues. I've had a couple of very frustrating days, but thankfully those are not everyday and are more the exception instead of the normal! I'll leave you with a couple of pictures - we haven't taken as many pictures this week but we'll take more soon!

  1. I had a feeling that he was going to be an awesome daddy. It is such a blessing to have a man like that. I am more thankful for Dasun than ever. You look great and I can't wait to see sweet Ryleigh!
