A year ago this week, the Northwest Arkansas area experienced what most of us call "Ice Storm 2009." In this storm we received over an inch of ice, most lost power for days. Basically it was rough around here. Fast forward to this year, and somehow we were for cast to get another major winter storm in the same exact week as last year. The storm hit Thursday afternoon as freezing rain/sleet and it didn't let up until this morning (Sat.) at 3:00. Luckily for us, this time we got way more snow than ice. We ended up with may 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice followed by probably 8 inches of snow. Yesterday, Kyle and I both worked from home so we could take turns with Ryleigh. Thankfully we only lost power for about an hour. I love my child, I really do, but I have a new appreciation for stay at home moms...especially ones like my sitter, who watches not only hers but mine too! :) Being snowed in is fun...but can get a little rough when you know you can't get out if you wanted to! Today, I am snowed in again with her. Kyle is part of a disc golf tournament today titled "Ice Bowl." Yes, the name was picked long before we even knew we were getting hit by this storm, and yes, they had it anyways! I think the motto was "No wimps, no whiners." So, today Kyle is out enjoying the snow! Maybe I'll go out later :)

Kyle made this snowman...that's about all I can say about it! :)
glad it wasn't as bad as last year's storm. Sounds like you guys are survivin. I think winter is WAY harder as a stay at home mom than any other time of year. Because it is just like you said: you can't go out if you want to. Atleast not without braving the COLD (it was 10 degrees today- now I know some places are way colder than that... but still not exactly child-friendly temps)! Can't wait for spring up here!
ReplyDeleteElisa - I don't care how cold it is in other places...10 degrees is just crazy! :) I'm also definitey ready for some warmer temps. I've had the snow so I'm ready for winter to be over!
