Thanksgiving Update

Again, I know it's been forever since I've posted...almost a month. I honestly didn't think this was a big deal until we visited extended family over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was then that I was informed by multiple people that they were accustomed to checking the blog regularly and were disappointed in my lack of posting. So, here is the update and some pictures from the weekend. We packed up and headed out last Wednesday for Atlanta...with Ryleigh. Yep, that's right 12 hours in a car with a 5 month old. The trip down went very well, she basically slept all night. She did great all weekend with 30+ new people and lots of little kids running around. The hotel stay was interesting since she ended up in our bed a couple of night...which is a huge "no no" in our house. I am avoiding that like the plague. I mean seriously, it was hard enough for me to get used to Kyle in my bed...I can't handle another person in my space at night! :) But, we made an exception since we weren't at home and there was no real crib with a mattress. We really did have a great visit, Ryleigh got to meet her Great Grandpa Sites (and lots of other family members!) On Saturday, a bunch of us went downtown to see the Rockettes at the Fox Theater which was really neat and a nice break for me since Kyle stayed behind and watched Ryleigh for me. He was less than thrilled about watching the show, so our arrangement worked out nicely as he got to watch a little bit of football while he was babysitting! We headed home on Sunday after we dropped my sister off at the airport. This was the part of the trip that I was nervous about...the 14 hour drive back in the daytime with Ryleigh. I was pleasantly surprised though, she did great. When she got hungry, we would make a stop somewhere and I would feed her and play with her for a little bit and then every time we put her back in that car seat, she'd fall asleep again! So basically she slept most of the way home! When we were about 30 minutes from home, she woke up crying and she wasn't hungry. After a few minutes of trying to calm her down, I gave in and just took her out and held her the rest of the way home. As soon as we got here and I set her down on her mat...she stops crying! :) That kid was just finally fed up with the car seat! So, I can't complain, she was a great traveler, and I'm very thankful for that (as I'm sure the rest of passengers in the care were too!) Anyways, we're back at home now and back into our normal routine - or as normal as we can get over the holidays. It always seems like this time of year is just crazy - but I love it! We are doing Ryleigh's 6 month pictures today, so I'll have some of those posted as soon as I can. That's about all I have in the way of an update right now, so I'll leave you with some pictures and I promise I'll try to update more often! :)

Family picture on Thanksgiving day

We had to change her outfit right after we arrived since she spit up on it...so this was the actual Thanksgiving outfit!

Ryleigh with Papa

This was pretty much her facial expression for most of the weekend - lots to take in!

4 Generations - so glad we were able to get this picture!
