A Rough Week

It's been awhile since I last posted so I've got some catching up to do. Kyle and I have now experienced Ryleigh's first cold. No big deal right? That's exactly what I thought when it first started. I was determined not to be that mom who is always paranoid at the first sign of a runny nose. :) Well, Ryleigh didn't even have a runny nose, hers was just congested. Still, no big deal, we used the aspirator. Then, she developed a little bit of a cough, still pretty normal and harmless. Just to be on the safe side, I called the nurse - she assured me it sounded like a cold and advised me to get a humidifier for Ryleigh's room. A few days later and that little cough turned into coughing fits like the kind where she would cough non-stop and get red in the face like she couldn't catch her breath. That when I started to think this might be a big deal. In any case it scared me to death watching her cough and thinking that she couldn't breathe! So, we went to the Dr. Unfortunately my Dr. was out so they sent me to another one (whom I did not realize didn't specialize in pediatrics) and this doctor put Ryleigh on acid reflux medication as well as an inhaler with a mask! Yeah - I was less than satisfied since I didn't think she had acid reflux or any issues breathing (other than while she was coughing). However, I'm not the Dr. right? So I filled the prescriptions. Big mistake. I gave her one dose of the acid reflux stuff and she broke out in hives! About $150 later I decide that I really don't agree with the diagnosis and call to take her back in. The second Dr. tells me I don't need either of the medications and that it's probably just a cold! He puts her on antibiotics though - just in case. So now, about $200 and 2 weeks later - Ryleigh is doing much better and I have officially become that mom! :)

Now that this drama is over, I'll try to get out here and post more often! We don't have a lot going on right now, the weather here is turning very fall like, so hopefully that means I'll get some cute pictures of Ryleigh in all her new fall outfits soon! We did go to a wedding this weekend and I know there are some friends/family that got some cute picture of Ryleigh, so when I get them, I'll get those posted!
